Plop — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Plop for Mac handles your data. In short: Plop does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. Everything it does happens on your Mac.

Data We Collect

None. Plop has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The app contains no networking code and never connects to the internet.

Clipboard Content

When you press the paste shortcut in Finder, Plop reads the image or text on your clipboard in order to save it as a file in the folder you chose. The content is processed on your Mac only. A temporary copy is written inside the app's private container so that Finder can copy it into place, and it is deleted shortly afterwards.

Accessibility Permission

Plop asks for the macOS Accessibility permission so that it can notice the paste shortcut (⌘V and ⇧⌘V) while Finder is the active app. It only checks for that shortcut. It does not record, store or transmit what you type.

Finder Automation

Plop asks Finder which folder is open and which file names it already contains. This is used only to choose a file name that does not overwrite an existing file and to show you where a pasted file went. The information is not stored beyond the list of recent pastes described below and never leaves your Mac.

Data Stored on Your Mac

Plop stores your settings, your naming patterns and the locations of your five most recent pastes in the app's preferences on your Mac. You can remove this data at any time by deleting the app and its data.

Purchases

Plop is sold through the Mac App Store. Payments are handled entirely by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details.

Changes to This Policy

If a future version of Plop changes how data is handled, this page will be updated before that version is released.
